Kevin Swanson is the author of two books, The Second Mayflower and Upgrade: The Ten Secrets to the Best Education for Your Child. He has worked in radio and television media for twenty-two years and now hosts a daily radio program networked across western states and the Web, called "Generations with Kevin Swanson". With a vision toward biblical reformation of education and all of culture, Kevin serves as a pastor of Reformation Church in Castle Rock and as executive director of Christian Home Educators of Colorado. Kevin and his wife, Brenda, home school five children in their home on the eastern plains of Colorado. His keynote addresses will include "The Ten Secrets to a Successful Education." and "Why Homeschooling Will Change the World"
Carol Barnier is the author of How to Get Your Child Off the Refrigerator and On to Learning, and If I'm Diapering a Watermelon, then Where'd I Leave the Baby? Carol describes herself as a "Delightful speaker, entertaining author, adequate wife, pitiful housekeeper." Those who heard her at the 2005 CHOIS Convention already know that she is an entertaining and inspiring speaker. She will encourage you to open the gift that is your child, and to see your child and yourself as God designed them to be. She homeschools her three children in Connecticut. Her keynote addresses will be entitled, "Practical Parenting: What I know now that I wish I'd Known Then" and "Don't Miss the Gift in this Child."
Maggie and Bob Hogan live in a (formerly) Amish farmhouse in Dover, DE where they began homeschooling their two (now grown) sons in 1991. She is a regular contributor to homeschooling internet sites as well as print magazines like Homeschooling Today and The Old Schoolhouse. She's a nationally known speaker and co-author of The Ultimate Geography and Timeline Guide, Gifted Children at Home, Hands-on Geography and other resource books. Involved in local, state, and national homeschooling issues, they both serve on boards of home education organizations in Delaware. They're also owners of Bright Ideas Press, publishers of the award winning: The Mystery of History series, Christian Kids Explore series and All American History series. When not reading or writing, Maggie can be found drooling over scrapbooking supplies and book catalogs.
In the course of her career as a professional mother, Kim Anderson has home-schooled her three children, trained lobbyists for Concerned Women for America, coached national speech and debate champions, and produced summer-stock Shakespeare and award-winning independent film with her children. Kim has written Countdown to College: A Homeschooler's Guide to Winning Scholarships, which helped her first-launched child win over half a million dollars in scholarships, using NCFCA forensics as a springboard. Her work on homeschool college prep has featured her family in a Focus on the Family television short and has made her a popular radio talk-show guest. Kim is the author of Lincoln-Douglas Debate: Guidebook for Debating the Value Topic, and is the retiring Regional Coordinator for a 12-state area in the NCFCA. She teaches speech and debate at Credo Academy (a home-school college-prep cooperative), WORDsworth Debaters and the International Debate Society.
Mrs. Linda Patchin is a founding and current board member of Christian Homeschoolers Of Idaho State. Her column, CHOIS Tidbits, appears in every issue of the CHOIS Connection Magazine. Married to Paul for twenty-seven years, she is the mother of four children. Her oldest son is a college graduate, her daughter is a college student, and her two youngest sons are still being taught at home. Linda has over nineteen years of home educating experience.
Mrs. Micheline Ghiorso and her husband Mark have four children ages five to twelve, and have been homeschooling for eight years. Their passion for discipling couples who are considering home education, led them to launch the Boise Chapter of Exploring Homeschooling.
Mr. Barry Peters, Esq. is a member of the board of legal advisors for the Idaho Coalition of Home Educators and Christian Homeschoolers Of Idaho State. His regular legal updates inform Idaho homeschoolers of challenges to their right to home educate. He also writes a column, ICHE Legislative News, for each issue of the CHOIS Connection Magazine. Mr Peters' law practice, in Eagle, Idaho, specializes in the areas of real estate, estate planning and business law. He and his wife, Res, have successfully completed home educating their two daughters.
