This one-day seminar must be registered for in advance, and at least one parent must be attending the convention.
Have you ever wondered whether or not speaking effectively was a skill that could be developed? Wonder no longer. In this one day seminar, Kim Anderson will explain the importance of effective communication skills to today's culture. This interactive seminar will provide your teen with information and opportunity to use this skill. Kim will be introducing the students to debate competition as well. Workshop titles include:
- Invitation to Excellence 8:45-10:15 (with "Ten Minutes to Change the World")
- Nationally-ranked competitors and coach tell how Christian speech and debate changed their lives and gave them a leg up on real-life influence.
- Ten Minutes to Change the World 8:45-10:15 (with "Invitation to Excellence")
- What does your world need to hear? Learn how to say it winsomely in competition and out in your community. Hear, see and try it yourself.
- Stories to Heal our Time Part I 10:45-11:45
- Stories to Heal our Time Part II 1:30-2:30
- Fly under the radar of hostile arguments to bring healing and challenging stories to life for your audience. Demonstrations and hands-on exercises.
- Whining, Arguing and Debate 3:00-4:00
- Everyone knows how to argue, but few understand how to make an argument. Get a handle on the tools of polite warfare, compelling persuasion and logical thinking.
- Trying it On 4:30-6:00
- Work with the tools of oratory and debate to craft a debate with your friends. Address the wackiest debate resolutions the world has ever seen. Our teen interns walk you through the whole thing.
